In Turkey you see Ataturk everywhere: on flags and bank notes, in barber shops and cafes, his statue dominating public spaces.  In Cuba, by contrast, there are hardly any pictures of Fidel Castro. Yes, you may see his head on the back wall of a bar, but in two weeks in Cuba three years ago I don’t recall seeing a single official depiction of Fidel. Here’s what I did see in 2008.
